There are 11 fellow SCEA members that need our support in keeping their jobs ...we have given up so much to save jobs...I thought we were giving up to save ALL the SCEA jobs... Is the city keeping up there end of the deal? NO MORE CONCESSIONS unless these 11 fellow employees are guaranteed employment! NO MORE CONCESSIONS because we have to re-open negotiations regarding medical in 6 months anyway...enough is enough right now!

The lesser number is the savings estimate for FY 2010-11. The greater number is the savings estimate over the multi-year term of the current Memorandum of Understanding.
As a direct result of these concessions, 47 SCEA members were spared from layoff, including all civilian employees in the police department.

Ms Garcia is saying our savings from our last vote to lose our cola and do another year of furlough (what you told us to vote for Mr Rose) is only saving 1.28M in the general fund. If this is true, then the rest of the 3.59M is for not? We could have saved our cola and just done furloughs for the remainder of our contract to give them the 1.28M
How many SCEA positions are saved/lost now Mr Rose?

Question: This website lists the SCEA as giving up $4.87 million in concessions - Per the City Council Policy Decision powerpoint, slide 9, date 05/19/10 of the Budget Study - the City expected only $1.276 million ($484K for the 2.5% and $792K for furloughs)...why the descrepency in the value of our concessions...anyone?

I'm curious how the monetary savings resulting from the concessions will be applied to save SCEA positions?

At our last meeting, we were told deferring the cola wasnt an option, the city wouldnt accept any deferrment. Then I see that Fire is willing to defer their pay raise. What gives?

Please give clarification on the issue of giving up our COLA in the upcoming ballot. Would we be giving up the COLA for this year only or for the rest of our years with the City unless we were to renegotiate it back into our contract at some point in the future?

I am an employee of the library and thus, will not be affected by the 9/80 schedule. If given the opportunity, however, I would love having two days off in a row again by taking part in such a schedule.

I support implementation of the plan on an involuntary basis. I would like to see employees be able to negotiate a daily schedule within the 9/80 Plan. I agree that a January 2010 implementation date for the compulsory 9/80 Plan is much too soon. Would the City consider beginning with a voluntary implementation January 1st, moving to involuntary in six to nine months; which would give employees time to rearrange child care; commuting schedules;etc. I believe that, in the long run, the 9/80 Plan is a good thing for both the City and employees.
